Club Med Quebec Charlevoix: Over 30 Custom-Designed Carpet Patterns!

25.01.2022

"Each carpet was treated the same way as any other element of interior design, meaning each one reinterprets Quebec's codes. The carpet stands out as the centerpiece of the space, giving it a unique signature and emphasizing the desired personality of the place. The Club Med carpets support the overall interior design concept, inspired by quilt patterns," comments Katrine Beaudry, the project's lead designer.

When designing the interior spaces of this mountain retreat, the designers at LemayMichaud aimed to give each space its own identity and unique atmosphere. In total, 30 custom-designed carpet patterns were created for the client, supporting the specific inspiration for each area.

"The carpets at Club Med Charlevoix were designed to immerse visitors in this surreal place. They harmonize with a world that brings together the territories and cultures shared in Quebec. These designs evoke comfort, discovery, and adventure. By graphically reinterpreting the look of these images and codes, the carpets become elements that fully contribute to the architectural and interior design narrative throughout the project," adds Étienne Savaria, Graphic Design Director at LemayMichaud.

The Restaurants: A Tribute to Quebec's Agriculture and Farms

The project includes 3 restaurants and 5 dining areas, drawing inspiration from Quebec’s agriculture and craftsmanship. The forest, the sea, the fields, and the dairies are highlighted and reinterpreted through the carpets.

The common areas celebrate winter.

In Quebec, winter is not just synonymous with snow—far from it! Many traditions invite Quebecers to gather and celebrate. That’s why the carpet patterns in the common areas, such as the lobby or the theater, evoke designs deeply rooted in tradition.

The Lobby, a nod to Quebec's tartan.

The theater, a gathering place reminiscent of the Carnaval de Québec, featuring various winter motifs such as wool and tartan.

Yoga Room, a space for contemplation and connection with nature. The Charlevoix star is subtly integrated into the patterns.

The corridors, inspired by Quebec's culture.

The carpet patterns in the corridors are inspired by Quebec’s culture and pay tribute to traditional Quebec homes. In fact, round rugs woven from various fabrics and colors, as well as wool, whether in blankets or classic wool socks, could be found in kitchens. These traditions gave birth to the inspiration for the following two patterns.
