The construction of the new headquarters of the CNESST has now started.
On May 26th, LemayMichaud was at the groundbreaking ceremony launching the construction site for the project of the new CNESST head office, to be part of the Estimauville Ecoquartier in Quebec City.
The future building, with an approximate area of 34,500 m2 on eight floors, will welcome its occupants in 2021. Its construction is, for many, a major element of the revitalization project for this new area of Quebec City.
The Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) project will meet the highest environmental requirements, as well as the certification LEED v4. Its contemporary approach will ensure better environmental results and propose a powerful user experience.
The new headquarters, which will be modern, user-friendly and ecological, will also possess several particularities, of which the most notable are:
- A structural design unprecedented in Quebec, which adheres to the Wood Charter;
- Maximum input of natural light inwards;
- The creation of green spaces in the adjacent areas, on the ground and the roof;
- An overall layout that meets the sector’s current principles in terms of urban development.
The architecture and layout of the premises are signed by a consortium of architects and engineers appointed specifically for this project “Groupe OS” (Optimization-Synergy), composed of:
COARCHITECTURE for the Architecture of the building,
LemayMichaud for the Interior design,
SNC LAVALIN for the structure,
PAGEAU MOREL for ventilation & air conditioning,
CIMA for electrical services, plumbing, fire protection,
and FRANÇOIS COURVILLE for Landscape architecture.
