Residence Inn Calgary by Marriott
Rooted in the history of the site
The Residence Inn Calgary by Marriott, the largest hotel of the brand in North America, has 390 guestrooms spread over a 35-storey tower built on the site previously used by the Alberta Boot Company, a cowboy boot factory still in operation today. In its honour, boot-stitching patterns were incorporated into the guestroom artwork, and old advertisements were used in the lobby mural.
Home away from home
Crossing the lobby and overlooking the lounge, a monumental staircase creates a pathway through which are revealed a majestic angled foyer and a 35-foot high bookcase that houses backlit onyx cubes, making it shine like a jewel when viewed from the outside at night. Here and there on the room floors, oversized ventilation grilles are transformed into works of art. The concept – Coming Home – has allowed for a complete redesign of the guest rooms’ floor plan, that were treated as true studios to include a separate bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a full kitchen.
